CERTIFICATE PROGRAM INFORMATION
Are you seeking a transdisciplinary educational experience that provides a foundation in natural medicine, herbalism, and environmental health realms?
There is no denying that our world has changed.
Weather and climate changes, biodiversity loss, deforestation, and other factors affect the health of our precious planet and all of humanity. It is likely new infectious diseases will emerge again. Increased drought, extreme storms, declining pollinators make it increasingly difficult to grow food, while crops are also becoming less nutritious because of atmospheric changes. These factors and sundry others are making humans more susceptible to disease and conflict. Atmospheric pollution from industrial emissions and smoke from fires can lead to cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses. Hurricanes and other major storms put lives at risk. Witnessing the degradation of our world can have consequences for mental health at a time when there is already civil strife and displacement.
Understanding and acting on current and future challenges calls for new, innovative, and transdisciplinary approaches to environmental health issues. That's where prevention medicine, natural medicine, and herbalism can play important roles.

This integrative certificate level course prepares students and participants for a variety of holistic health positions with the ultimate goal of helping people sustain the health of their communities and environment.
The Herbalism & Environmental Health Program (HEH) consists of 3 levels or components of academic study and a capstone paper or project (below) including:
Level 1: Herbalism and Environmental Health-Beginner Level
Level 2: Herbalism and Intermediate Environmental Health --Intermediate Level
Level 3: Advanced Capstone Project--Paper or Project
Additionally, students select two elective special topic courses

Students graduating with this program certificate acquire strong personal natural medicine, herbal, and environmental wisdom, as well as knowledge and skills to work in a variety of natural medicine and environmental health realms.
